About Nikki
Becoming a doula has been a long-standing passion of mine. Throughout my own pregnancies, births, and postpartum periods I was surprised to discover how much important information wasn't always reaching pregnant people and new families. The more I researched, the more I was amazed and the more passionate I became. I have loved continually learning about birth and exploring all things birth related. The joy I've found in sharing this knowledge has been what has inspired to make this my career. It continues to be both amazing and humbling to help families have wonderful and satisfying birth experiences!

Qualifications
I am a certified Labour & Birth Doula with Wise Woman Way of Birth and a certified Holistic Doula with The Matrona. Additionally, I have completed doula training with DONA International and Doula Training Canada.
I am a member of the Doula Services Association of BC and have all the proper identification, and covid vaccinations, needed to accompany clients into BC Hospitals during this pandemic. I also work with Burnaby Family Life to provide doula care to vulnerable women in my community.

"Nikki is such a natural as a doula, she made me feel supported and cared for. She went above and beyond to help me make informed decisions as a first time mom which I really appreciated. Nikki sent lots of useful information, videos, studies etc. and was always just a call or text away if I had any questions. "Nikki went above and beyond our expectations right from the start. Any questions I had, she was happily eager to provide all the research on so I could make an informed decision. If you believe knowledge is power and want to feel more control in your prenatal decisions, then this is the doula for you. She was a great support for my partner, as well, while I was under general anesthesia following my elective c-section, so that he felt confident in handling our daughter. She was super helpful during the postpartum visit as well, helping us give our daughter her first bath and even fixing my fridge door. "My baby arrived 2 weeks early and the doula I was originally booked with was unavailable. Nikki was able to fill in at the last minute and did an awesome job, even though the first time we had talked was when I was already in the first stages of labour! I appreciated her being there for us on such short notice. Her support and confidence helped my husband and me immeasurably as first-time parents who weren't sure what to expect. We had opted for a hospital birth at BC Women's and Nikki helped so much with getting us to the hospital and with getting us checked in and making sure everything ran smoothly, in tandem with the midwife and nurses. "Amazing! I could not have delivered my baby boy without Nikki being by my side. She was encouraging, super hands on and helpful. When I had questions and I needed clarity on any topic Nikki was always ready and available to speak with me and to provide the needed information. The moment I told her I told her I was having contractions she guided me on what exactly to do until she arrived. My husband is currently stuck overseas due to the pandemic and I had no family members with me during the delivery. Nikki went above and beyond to ensure I was comfortable and was in the right mindset to deliver my son. I have said this to her many times, that I don’t believe I could have delivered without her. "Nikki is amazing. She educated us almost from day one on what to expect, prepare for, and start focusing on as we progressed through the pregnancy timeline. She was with us every step of the way. We called Nikki to come when my wife was part way in to her labour and I'm so grateful for her. She coached both of us through every step and helped advocate for our preferences, and specifically my wife's preferences, while I was focused on helping my wife. We couldn't have asked for a better person to be with us, and even asked her to cut the cord! She will be a lifelong influence on us as parents and I recommend you talk to her if you're starting your pregnancy journey!"
"Nikki was an amazing doula for our first baby/birth at BC Women's. She was very helpful and supportive leading up to labour in providing information and resources. Once the contractions started, she stayed in touch with us, and joined us at our home as soon as we asked her to. She was very easy to reach and picked up the phone after only a few rings despite us calling at 2am and 5am. She had some very valuable tools (our favourites were the TENS machine, comb to squeeze, and electric fan) which eased the labour process and she was a calming presence throughout, including on the car ride to the hospital (we would recommend you have Nikki in the car as the support to the birthing mother is invaluable!). She helped us achieved our desired natural/physiological birth goals and we were able to make it through labour and delivery without any medication. In the postpartum visit, she was helpful in discussing a wide range of parenting advice, and we especially appreciated the insights on 'elimination communication'. We are SO glad that we decided to have a doula as part of our labour support team and we were very happy with Nikki, who we would highly recommend!"
